The Personality of GOD- Part 3 THE OX (ENDURANCE)

THE OX symbolizes patience, strength and endurance

Hi friends,

Contd from Personality of God: Part 2 THE LION

I have to confess that this has been the most challenging of all the topics I’ve been directed to write about. Often I find myself even unworthy of the task; but as the Bible says : Perfect love casts out all fear. Just like the mother who has the sudden unexplainable energy to lift up a whole automobile to save her little one trapped in the car wreckage or the couple who had to fight for the love of their life. Sometimes when we love so much, we get the power, courage and a holy boldness to do things we would otherwise never do. Such is the case here. I pray that the Holy Spirit guides us into understanding the next attribute of our LORD with the symbolism of THE OX which symbolizes patience, strength and endurance.

OUR GOD IS A GOD OF PATIENCE, STRENGTH & ENDURANCE:

We saw the first 2 attributes of God namely POWER and JUSTICE. Now let us see some Scriptures that reveal to us the patience, strength and endurance of our Loving Father.

Genesis 6:3 “ When once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah - God waited on that guilty race for 120 years.”

2 Pet 3: 9 : “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should reach repentance”

Romans 15:5 : “Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.”

Psalm 28:8: “The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.”

Psalm 46:1:“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Psalm 59:16: “ But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”

Psalm 28:7 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.”

Thus we see that our God is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love.(Psalms 103:8) however that does not mean that He will compromise with sin. We have a God who hates SIN but loves the SINNER. Let us be grateful for His patience with us and ensure that His kindness leads us to repentance. Romans 2:4 reminds us “never to show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads us toward repentance?”
